Trophy Killers – There is something inherently disgusting about the killing of the magnificent animals in Africa. Not that trophy hunting in any country is acceptable – it is not – but the countries in Africa have so many challenges to deal with from corrupt governments to – poverty – to climate challenges and unrest – it seems incredible that their leaders would be so short-sighted as to allow the slaughter of the very animals that fuel the beneficial tourist trade and bring people from all over the world to visit.

Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – May 21, 2004 – Howard’s doctor arrived this morning for a consultation. He had a shiny tool box with him and a big bag of spare parts. Howard didn’t show much emotion but I was immediately alarmed. I was expecting Howard’s sick bits to be repaired not replaced. It was difficult to watch as Howard was unscrewed and opened up.

I need a place to unburden myself when it comes to my lack of progress on the exercise front. It’s not all my fault, Howard is sick. He’s only four months old and already he’s had a break down. Perhaps my negative attitude transferred to him as I walked back and forth past his room.

I was never a Brownie, so I missed the all important “flying up”, over the magic toadstool, or maybe it was a mushroom, into the ranks of Girl Guidedom. Instead of a nice little brown uniform, I wore a midnight blue uniform with a stylish white tie and a brown belt with a little change purse attached.
