A Softer Life

Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – December 24, 2004 – The last 8 days of 2004 are here. It’s the time of year when I always spend some time, quietly reflecting on a year that will soon pass. It will be replaced by the new kid on the block. The new year – 2005 with its as yet twelve untroubled months –  will burst forth full of inspiration, good cheer, plans, goals, hope and promise.

Carrying A Pager

Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – December 23, 2004 – The thing about having a pager attached to your hip is that people can always find you. Not some of the time or part of the time, but all the time. Even if you shut off the “audible” mode, it will still vibrate and then lurch wildly around your desk top until it falls off, thereby getting your attention.

I Wanna Be A Blonde

Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – December 22, 2004 – I don’t think there are many women, who haven’t at some point in their lives thought, “Gee, I’d like to be a blonde.” I’ve been a blonde before and as far as I’m concerned, they don’t necessarily have more fun. A Productive Day & Thoughts For Tomorrow

Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – December 20, 2004 – I was up early this morning, determined to accomplish most of the things on my never-ending list. It’s so close to the holidays that it’s tempting to just shut down the business side of my life and say – “Time for all this next year – there are movies to see”.

Another Successful Soiree

Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – December 19, 2004 – I got to bed last night about quarter to three. Big stayed and helped me with the initial clean up after the last of my guests departed. We lifted the plywood extension off the dining room table, because it’s a task that’s incredibly difficult to do alone. Big left about two in the morning and I puttered in clean up mode for another hour before I called it a day.

A Simple Childhood Memory

Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – December 18, 2004 – Last month the Moby Dick Book Club read a book entitled “No Great Mischief”. It was Linda’s choice and interestingly enough she disliked the book intensely. I could see why because it was a little slow in places and more than a bit repetitive in spots.
